Some strategies for learning the material in BIO 251.

1. Realize that there is a tremendous amount of information to learn.

2. Get organized early. Set aside separate study times for lab and lecture, and STICK TO THEM.

3. Read ahead in the text. Then, after the lecture, reread and study. Remember, the lecture will help clarify points in the text, and the text will help clarify points in the lecture.

4. Don't fall behind. This course travels at warp speed.

5. Take good notes. Copy them into legible form immediately after each lecture.

6. Don't emphasize memorizing things; emphasize learning them.

7. Don't cram or pull all-nighters.

8. Come to the laboratory prepared to begin work immediately. Read the exercises ahead of time, and make notes to yourself.
