Physics Department Programs

PRE-ENGINEERING PROGRAM

Engineering is a profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences is applied with judgment in developing new products in developing ways to utilize the forces of nature, and in designing new devices.

Students who are interested in engineering and capable of succeeding in mathematics and the allied sciences are encouraged to complete two years of their college work before transferring.

Many of the courses in engineering have rigid prerequisites involving mathematics. A student should examine progress in mathematics and, if necessary, may want to enroll in a summer session in order to maintain proper progress.

Students should be familiar with the admission and course requirements of the particular college of engineering to which they plan to transfer.  There now exists a transfer agreement with the University of Detroit-Mercy.  Similar agreements are being negoiated with Wayne State University, Univertsity of Michigan-Dearborn and Lawrence Technological University.
