Pre-education Science classes at HFCC


Science 210 transfers to the following Universities

University of Michigan-Dearborn EXPS 220.  Science in the Elementary School.  This course is designed for people intending to become elementary school teachers and who have had little or no previous experience in science. The course utilizes a laboratory approach to the study of the concepts, processes, and value of elementary and middle school science.

 


Science 213 transfers to the following Universities

University of Michigan-Dearborn NSCI 233. Learning by Inquiry: Life Sciences.  This course develops a strong conceptual understanding of Life Science. Prospective K-8 teachers will participate in the same kind of inquiry-based experiences that they will use in their own teaching. Topics will include characteristics of life, plants and animals, and ecology.
Wayne State University SCE 5010. Biological Science for Elementary/Middle School Teachers. Significant biological principles, generalizations and understandings with relation to their use with children. Appropriate learning activities; experiments, field trips, text and reference materials, audio-visual resources, evaluation.
