Chemistry
- 1 - This link shows some basic illustrations about chemistry.
- 2 - The atoms of a molecule are held together by chemical bonds. This link shows some good visuals about chemical bonds.
- 3 - Buffers help to stabilize the pH of our body fluids. This link shows an animated experiment into part of the concept of buffer chemicals.
- 4 - Without enzymes life could not exist. This animation takes you through the current concepts of how enzymes work in metabolism.
- 5 - Enzymes are sensitive to heat and pH changes along with other factors. Here is one page that shows the changes enzymes experience under various conditions.
- 6 - The chemical basis of life.
- 7 - Covalent and ionic bonding
- 8 - Buffers are important in the pH balance of body metabolism or chemical reactions. This animation is at a level greater than you need to understand but shows the basic concept of buffers.
- 9 - Enzymes. This basic explanation is a good place to start as a visual aid in "sseing" what occurs. After studying the preceeding animation then this animation is next.
- 10 - Nutrients are both organic and inorganic in structure. This will show the differences and state the importance of each.
- 11 - Hydrolysis and Dehydration Synthesis reactions are shown at this link.
- 12 - These pages are some of the animations used in lecture
- a - Enzymes
- b - Covalent chemical bonds
- c - Ionic bonds
- 13 - Here are videos with audio to show the interactions of atoms to form chemical bonds. When you open this link the audios/sound will play automatically for about 15 seconds. I could not control this annoyance.
- 14 - Organic molecules can be complicating to understand. These animations have audio.
- NOTE: The above require the latest versions of Flash and QuickTime be running on your computer.
